Ableton is fairly easy to use if you are familiar with music production software and is an industry standard software used by many producers and musicians to record and create.
Audacity is a simple audio production tool available for free download on PC’s and Macs. Audacity isn’t a digital audio workstation in the same way as Ableton but it gives users the chance to edit samples, songs, process audio files as well as export files into a wide range of formats including MP3, WAV and AIF. Audacity is one of the most used audio software and is a great way to get started in audio production with a simple to use interface and easy navigation.
Garageband is one of the easiest tools to create great sounding music. Garageband is only available on Apple Macs but is completely free to use. Garageband allows you to create a song with up to 255 tracks, change audio timing as well as the option of adding a virtual session drummer. Garageband does have its limitations with users unable to change the tempo within a song or having only 2 layers of effects for each track so if you love your effects, Garageband probably isn’t the best choice. LMMS is a great option for music producers with great features to get the best out of your audio production.
